I don't remember ever seeing a grade marking on a cross bolt under the butt plate.

Here is an article announcing the single selective trigger.

I WAS ABLE TO MOVE THIS TO ITS CORRECT PLACE< BUT CANNOT DELETE THIS REDUNDANT THOUGHT.

Toward the bottom of page two of this thread you find the Optimus. Note that it is a trigger plate action with fore end based ejectors. The following gun has the same action design- but note that they almost surely started with the same vertical rear line on the action with the Optimus receiving two milled scallops, the7D or 8E shown below being left with that vertical line. Only a handful with that feature have shown up in the data base, and only the Optimus with the double scallops. The vast majority of the cross bolt frames terminate with a large single concave curve.

I had hoped to place this as a note between those two images, but can't figure out how to do it. In fact, this is the third time I've typed it as it seems to disappear into the cloud (or sewer)when I hit "Submit".

I acquired a no finish, restocked 8E and decided to build a custom gun with the thought of making something which the company might have made today, had they remained in business another 110 years, and also which fit between the top two guns, the Uncle Dan and the Optimus. I call her Aunt Sarah after Mrs Lefever. Metal and wood by Steven Nelson, Corvallis, Oregon, engraving and silver inlay by Larry Peters,Odessa,WA. My roll is ideas, dimensions and finance.

Clicking here will give you access to not only Aunt Sarah but also many of my other guns, rifles and cars.

The thread about "ones that got away" contains a C grade advertised as a 20, with a reasonable "Buy it now" price. It sold very quickly, and remains with the buyer even though it is actually a C 16. Bottom of page 1 of this thread.
