Your SBT was produced in Ohio by D.M. Lefever, which made cross-bolt shotguns and a few SBTs after Dan Lefever left Lefever Arms Co. in 1901. Dan's cross-bolt plants produced only an estimated 1100 guns before the operation folded in 1906-7. A few of them were SBTs. Two others surfaced and sold within the past year. They do not command a huge amount of money, but they are very unusual and you could certainly find a home for it, if you don't want to hang on to it. If you decide to keep it, it's a rare and interesting gun.

Rich,

If the D. M. Lefever SBT guns were part of the total estimated production of around 1100 guns, were their serial numbers assigned in conjunction with the double barrels, or did they have a separate block of numbers?

Thats a definate go as far as finding a new home for it! In the 50 plus years I have been acquiring these "top end" American made guns I have never encountered a Lefever SBT, and only one Baker that was in to bad condition to do anything with. My Fox SBT was the hardest to find so far, and that was in 1962. Regards, Lee.

I was wondering if the number three on this shotgun is the serial number? It is on all of the parts that are numbered.

The 3 is the serial number.
The single barrel guns started at 0.
The doubles started at 1000.
There are over 100 single barrel guns built.
There are over 1300 DM Lefevers total.

Just curious. Might want to sell this shotgun. Have no idea as to the value. Can't seem to find real numbers. The books aren't really much help either. Any ideas? I know price is very subjective. Thanks for your input.
