That is a nice looking gun and would fill the duck gun void in my small collection nicely. Unfortunately I'm still on probation for the 20 gauge I just bought.

Two observations/questions:
1) The stock is cut (or appears to be) straight across, but the pad does look like it fits very well. Did all Lefever's have the curve to the butt stock or did this appear on later guns?
2)(This one a bit off topic) the photo of the muzzle is dark, but the bbls don't appear to touch. Were there many Lefever's made with bbls longer than 30"?

Guys,

I too saw that HE listed on GunBroker. It bears the same type marks my Ithaca-assembled GE grade accept for one thing.

Like this one, mine has:
1. The very same butt plate with lines curving away from the center.
2. The mark on the fore arm hanger.
3. The extra stamp of the SAME serial number in the center of the barrels.

The one thing that this gun DOESN'T have that mine does, is it isn't stamped "HE" on the water table. Mine has a "GE," which clearly differentiates, as no Syracuse Lefevers that I have ever seen bear "E" stamps along side the grade to indicate ejectors.

Additionally, of note on my gun, apparently there is also a mark on an unexposed area of the stock which also indicates Ithaca assembly. I have NOT seen it, but it was described to me by Buck Hamlin, who said my gun has it.

I have seen a few other guns with this curved-line plate, but if my memory serves, none were higher grade than "F."

I have 2 DS 20's. One with ejectors, has the standard grooved butt plate, and the extractor gun has an LAC butt plate and a fluted pistol grip cap

I got a response from the gentleman who has the H Grade Lefever with the spur type buttplate listed on Gunbroker. See pictures # 20 and # 28:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=543855599

The seller, Mr. Carl Weiss, owner of Winslow Gun Shop who lists on Gunbroker as hooah2 took the time to remove the buttplate and e-mail me a close-up photo.

There is no sign that this buttplate is a replacement. There are only two screw holes and no other holes or dowels filling old screw holes.
