Thanks for taking the time to photograph them all, and especially for posting the result! There are some wonderful guns in that display!

Mark,

Thanks for the post. I really like the close ups shots. You know, you could make a game out of all of those pics called guess the grades.

Be still my soul! Glad I wasn't there, I am recovering from my second heart surgery and I don't think I could have handled it in person!! Lee.

Lee,
I am a young 63 w/ no apparent heart problems, and was at the extensive display on Sat. and can honestly say I had some serious palpitations of the heart, as well as fondling & drooling problems! However, my highlight of the day was when I had the distinct pleasure of being around Dr. Decker and relatives of the Lefever clan, while Bob inspected one of the most beautiful 24xxx S#, 12g, steel barrelled Lefever's, I personally have had the pleasure of not only seeing but fondling w/ barrels @ fore end taken down??? Let me just say with a unique pattern & exquisite engraving, fore stock wood w/ push bottom release w/ checkering & pattern equivalent to the presentation grades of Lefever LAC guns, the only, and this is pick'un at best, the only distraction of the gun, was the lighter colored and what appeared polymer redone butt stock, with a rather robust cast off, which the table proprietor, said they had acquired from the present owner to correct the butt stock work to match what appeared to be beautiful original fore stock oiled wood and presentation grade checkering & engraving!
We can all dream, and while I have both Lefever books, must admit have somewhat limited hands on experience, however I mentioned it to Bob this gun exhibited remarkable traits of the some what questionable " Thousand Dollar Grade Lefever's, yes we are at the height of upgraded Lefever's, but this gun in my own hands, and seeing how Bob looked at & personally inspected this particular piece, the S# range, period of engraving, even to metal work of pistol grip cap, all made one wonder if we were looking at a rarer Lefever, if not of all shotgundome?!!!
Lefty/Lefever/Guy,
PS: I am still blown away, from having not only seen, but fondled this exquisite piece of craftmanship, as vivid in my mind as I write this, as the day I fondled it weeks ago?

Gentlemen,

It was both a privilege and pleasure to photograph those fine Lefever shotguns. The D Grade 10 gauge which was restored by Brad Bachelder is mine. I really like this gun but it is indeed humbled but those higher grade Lefevers!

My Lefever collection started with a restored DS 20 gauge which is wicked on woodcock! The DS now keeps company with the aforementioned 10 gauge, and 12 gauges including an E Grade ejector, D Grade ejector, and a C grade. At Bachelder's awaiting instructions for restoration is a converted sidecocker 36" barreled 10 gauge E Grade. Brad will advise me of my options and costs for either restoration as a converted sidecocker or returning it to a sidecocker. Either way with 36" barrels I think that this will always be an interesting gun!
