Does anyone have a Lefever earlier in the serial number range than 17,776 which has any of the following patent dates marked on the gun? 1881, 1884 or 1891. If so, what kind of a cocking system does your gun have? Also, is it an ejector gun. If so, forend or in-frame? I cannot account for any of these three patent dates (1881, '84 or '91) in the patents issued to Uncle Dan, any member of his family or to LAC. It is likely that DML or LAC held a license to use these mystery patents. It would help identify the particular licensed invention, if I can determine the earliest guns with these patent dates and their cocking and ejection features. Thanks for the help.
